The Chrysler Neon is a car that offers an unusual proposition. Because it doesn’t fit into the pat pigeonholes into which we slot most of our cars, many buyers have been confused as to exactly what they’re getting. On the one hand, the car was initially marketed as an economy car, but the 1999 restyle saw it gain some more upmarket aspirations. What is a Neon and, more importantly, does it cut the mustard as a used proposition?Although it still fails to offer the sophistication of cars like the Ford Focus, the Neon does offer a lot of metal for the money and a degree of exclusivity. Used examples aren’t too thick on the ground, but the plus side is that most have been well looked after. Covered:Neon 1999 to date: 2.0 saloon [SE, LX, R/T]The Neon was first launched on a wave of publicity back in 1996, Chrysler bringing the car to the UK as an aside to their right hand drive push for the Japanese market. The early cars were peppy and enthusiastic but rather unrefined and markedly lacking in sophistication. The cheap and cheerful angle didn’t cut it with British buyers who were used to genuinely cut throat pricing from Korean rivals.The second generation car was a different kettle of fish. Better built, smoother, more luxuriously equipped and with a marketing push that was better tailored to the UK market it seemed to have what it took to succeed. It seems few of you agreed and sales slowed to a trickle. Initially available in SE and LX guises, the entry level SE was deleted in 2001, and a sporty R/T variant was introduced.What You GetThis BMW 3 Series sized saloon is good value in plush LX form, no question and it’s worth stepping up to the LX from the somewhat sparse SE version. For the same kind of money, all you’d get is a pretty ordinary 1.6 litre Vauxhall Astra or Ford Focus. The Neon, on the other hand, comes with a 136bhp 2.0 litre engine, leather trim, twin front airbags, air conditioning, ABS, power steering, alloy wheels, traction control, woodgrain trim, a six speaker stereo and the option of automatic transmission. You can even get a sporty R/T version with bodykit, alloys and an uprated 150bhp engine.It helps that all the improvements are shrouded in smart bodywork that sets the Neon firmly apart from apparent Korean rivals like Hyundai’s Elantra, Daewoo’s Nubira and Kia’s Shuma. Where these cars continually remind you of the money you’ve saved, the Neon feels a class above. The people who tend to buy this car in the UK (the average ownership age is 53) will love all of this.The cabin is a world away from the cheap plastic fittings that characterised the old one. Soft touch materials are everywhere and most of the switchgear is well placed and easy to find. Criticisms are limited to a steering wheel that adjusts only for rake and not for reach and a rather strangely angled windscreen that can make it slightly awkward to see things like traffic lights when you’re directly below them.There’s a reasonable amount of space too enough to make downsizing into Neon ownership a realistic proposition for owners of larger Mondeo and Vectra sized models. Rear seat passengers get more room for hips, shoulders and heads, plus there’s more space for their luggage, thanks to a 13.1cuft boot accessed through 60/40 split folding rear seats.What You PayRefer to Car Driving for an exact up to date valuation section.What to Look ForNo major areas of concern have surfaced since the Neon has been on sale, so provided the car has been maintained according to the service schedule, all should be well. The interior trim is better than the old cars and there have yet to be any noteworthy issues regarding the reliability of the 2.0 litre engine. As a result, though low speed ride could still be better, at cruising speeds the Neon is much improved, again giving the feeling of a much larger car. If you feel the standard Neon is a touch soft, the R/T corners a little more faithfully, although still not as well as a standard Ford Focus. The R/T is certainly the Neon to go for if you want to make quick progress.Cast into the rocker cover is the legend ‘2.0L High Output’ which may sound like a serious power unit, but the truth is somewhat more prosaic. It’s basically an uprated version of the 2.0 litre engine that powers the standard Neon models, tweaked to produce 150bhp. Whilst not at the forefront of engine technology, this powerplant nevertheless offers a willing level of performance for the money. It’s able to hit 60mph in 9.4 seconds and run on to a top speed of 132mph, so you won’t be able to accuse the Neon R/T of being a sheep in wolf’s clothing.Even the standard 2.0 litre versions are faster than most comparably priced rivals. Rest to sixty takes 10.8s on the way to 124mph. Still, at least you don’t have to pay for the bigger capacity at the pumps: in normal driving, around 35mpg should be possible, rising to 45mpg on the open road.Those figures shouldn’t be too dramatically affected if, like most customers, you take the no cost automatic transmission option, though bear in mind that the gearbox has three, rather than the usual four speeds available from rivals (who all charge extra for the privilege).Braking is much improved over the old model, though curiously, the system you get depends on the trim level you choose. Quick, good looking and well equipped it’s a break from the norm. No, it isn’t the last word in sophisticated engineering but for most buyers driving something that offers a little exclusivity will more than make up for that.

Semir appare per la prima volta nell’episodio Il nuovo compagno al fianco di Frank Stolte, dopo che la morte di Ingo Fischer ha reso necessaria l’assunzione di un nuovo collega. Cerca sempre di essere il pi calmo, sereno, tranquillo e positivo possibile, anche nelle situazioni peggiori a cui il suo lavoro lo mette di fronte. Egli inoltre ha un carattere molto apprezzato dagli altri personaggi della serie: sempre positivo e non perde mai la calma. Spesso infatti lui a calmare i suoi colleghi pi scalmanati, come ad esempio Andr Fux. Con il suo partner riesce pressoch sempre ad essere al posto giusto al momento giusto. In Sotto pressione, I ricercati e Die Kmpferin viene provvisoriamente nominato capo del distretto: nel primo caso Anna non era presente, e nel secondo Kim era in vacanza. Semir anche molto versatile: nell’episodio Atterraggio d’emergenza riesce, seppur con un aiuto, a far atterrare un Socata TB10 Tobago; in Il talento di Semir si mette ai comandi di un Cessna 172 e in Il cartello pilota un AutoGyro MT 03. Inoltre sa cavalcare (episodi Rapina all’ufficio postale, Giustizia sommaria, Testimone a Berlino e Il boss) e scalare (episodi Pandora e Resurrezione). In ogni caso, non sempre immune dagli incidenti: in svariate occasioni viene ferito nei combattimenti corpo a corpo o colpito di striscio da alcuni proiettili. Negli episodi Sabotaggio e Ricordi di giovent entra addirittura in coma, entrambe le volte senza nessuna conseguenza. Semir inoltre molto sensibile: lo si capisce, ad esempio, vista la lunga riflessione sul ponte Hohenzollern di Colonia dopo la morte di Tom, che pu essere interpretata come un remoto tentativo di suicidio. Un altro tentativo di suicidio ben pi evidente in Unit di crisi, quando il poliziotto perde molte speranze di rivedere vive sua moglie e sua figlia in seguito ad un rapimento. Quando ci meditava su, si trovava nella Rheinturm, torre della televisione di Dusseldorf: sarebbe stato facilissimo lasciarsi cadere, trovandosi, tra l’altro, molto in alto. Semir per ha desistito ed ha subito tentato di rintracciare le sue familiari, riuscendo nell’intento. In Testimone a Berlino, invece, Semir deve assicurare giustizia a Sander Kalvus, un boss della droga olandese nonch assassino di Chris: anche in questo caso egli affronta la situazione con molta determinazione. Poco contenta del suo lavoro dopo l’arrivo delle figlie Andrea, che vede nel suo lavoro qualcosa di molto pericoloso. Nell’episodio Angeli della morte chiede infatti il trasferimento ad un incarico impiegatizio, sotto le insistenti richieste della moglie. Semir per non si trova a suo agio, e dopo averne parlato con Andrea ritorna al suo lavoro di sempre. In altre occasioni il poliziotto ha pensato di ritirarsi dalla polizia, come ad esempio dopo essere stato tradito dal suo vecchio collega Andr nell’episodio Resurrezione. In quel caso Ben lo convinse a desistere. InOltre la leggevediamo un Semir terribilmente violento e incosciente in seguito al rapimento di Danada parte di un gruppo di trafficanti di prostitute. L’agente non conosce pi limiti e arriva ad azioni eccessivamente illecite e violente. Tenta perfino di soffocare un uomo, che, per fortuna, non muore solo grazie all’arrivo in soccorso di due agenti della sicurezza. A fine puntata, dopo aver ritrovato la figlia, Semir sta addirittura per sparare all’uomo che l’aveva "comprata". Alla fine dopo che arrivato Alex, che cerca di farlo ragionare, fortunatamente, prevale il buonsenso del poliziotto.Rapporto con i colleghiCon quasi tutti i colleghi instaura da subito un buonissimo rapporto.Con Frank Stolte instaura un rapporto essenzialmente lavorativo, che comunque abbastanza buono. Un Semir alle prime armi lo porta in un’occasione a fare rapporto sul collega per la sua spericolatezza alla guida.Andr Fux ben presto diventa il primo vero grande amico di Semir. I due sono fin da subito andati d’accordo, ed il loro rapporto molto intenso, tant’ che quando egli apparentemente muore a Maiorca (ep. La vita appesa ad un filo), Semir passa un periodo di profonda crisi. Nell’episodio Resurrezione, quando il partner di Semir Ben, Fux riappare. Dopo aver tirato fuori dai guai un incredulo Semir, voleva servirsi di lui per vendicarsi della morte di sua moglie e di sua figlia per mano di alcuni malviventi. Dopo che Andr ha provato ad ucciderlo, Semir si trova ad inseguirlo. In seguito ad un incidente, Andr si lascia cadere nel vuoto permettendogli di salvarsi.Tom Kranich e Ben Jger sono i colleghi che pi hanno stretto con il proprio collega, essendo anche gli unici che sono stati al suo fianco a lungo (Tom 83 episodi, Ben 81). Con essi Semir supera abbondantemente il rapporto di lavoro. Non sono ovviamente mancati momenti di tensione con entrambi, ma tutti i problemi si sono velocemente risolti.Nonostante Jan Richter sia un po’ pi inesperto dei precedenti colleghi, riesce a conquistare la fiducia e l’amicizia di Semir sin da subito.Con Chris Ritter Semir inizialmente non riesce a trovare la quadra a causa del carattere scontroso e autonomo del suo collega. Col tempo i due comunque impareranno a conoscersi. In pi occasioni viene tirato in ballo il suo paese d’origine: nell’episodio Sognando Maiorca, ad esempio, si rivolge ad un manovale che non gli da retta dicendogli "Oooh! Ma parlo turco per caso?". Nella versione originale tedesca, Semir invece si rivolge all’uomo proprio in lingua turca. In Un incubo per Semir un suo vecchio amico che egli aveva arrestato, tenta di ucciderlo. Nell’episodio Addio giovinezza viene narrata un pezzo di storia della sua infanzia vissuta nel quartiere turco di Colonia: era un ladruncolo di auto che faceva corse clandestine. Quando fu coinvolto anche in un omicidio per, testimoni contro un suo amico, il vero esecutore del gesto; per questo motivo Semir viene chiamato "kalle", ossia traditore. Anche in Un regalo sbagliato si scopre un altro episodio della sua giovinezza: un amico della sua compagnia aveva rubato una macchina e causato un incidente in cui sono morti i genitori e la sorella di un ragazzo; Semir aveva testimoniato contro i sui compagni e questi ultimi da quel momento l’avevano considerato un traditore. In Lampada magica invece si parla del rapporto che Semir ha avuto con suo padre e suo fratello Kamal, che ha un negozio di ferramenta: il padre non gli aveva perdonato di essere entrato in polizia, ma sul letto di morte, si voleva scusare: Semir per, a causa del lavoro, non era riuscito ad arrivare in tempo. In questo episodio l’adolescente viene rapita da dei trafficanti di esseri umani per essere venduta come prostituta; Semir, per liberarla, dichiara guerra ai suoi rapitori. Le cose per non migliorano: i due hanno continui confronti che non portano a nulla. Nell’episodio La principessa i due si sottopongono ad una terapia di coppia, che per fallisce. Nell’episodio successivo, Animali selvaggi, Semir conosce Veronika, una piacente veterinaria. Tra i due nasce del tenero, che potrebbe addirittura evolversi in una cosa pi seria, se non fosse per lo stesso Semir, che dopo un primo bacio dice di non sentirsela di imbarcarsi in una tale impresa. Ironicamente alla scena assiste da lontano Andrea, che sembra a tratti felice che anche il marito stia andando avanti ed a tratti confusa. Nell’episodio All’ultimo respiro Andrea chiede a Semir il divorzio. Questo porta a Semir un precario stato psicofisico, che gli causa anche il rischio di licenziamento poich al lavoro risulta essere estremamente brusco, incosciente e poco produttivo nello svolgimento delle indagini (episodio Rivoluzione). Le cose non migliorano: nonostante un apparente riavvicinamento dei due nell’episodioUna pista per Alex, la storia conAndrea destinata alla fine: nell’episodio Un regalo sbagliato i due divorziano, anche se Andrea prima di firmare sembra ancora mostrare indecisione sul da farsi. Un’inversione di tendenza si ha nella stagione 36: grazie anche ad Alexander Brandt, i due ricominciano a frequentarsi. Nell’episodio L’ultima notte Semir e Andrea si ritrovano per una cena di riconciliazione. I turbolenti eventi dell’episodio li fanno riscoprire profondamente innamorati l’uno dell’altro: Andrea rischier anche di morire poich gravemente ferita da un colpo d’arma da fuoco sparato da un malvivente, ma non appena si risveglia conferma di voler stare con Semir.Il vecchio distintivo di Semir nato ad Istanbul il 2 febbraio 1964, come emerge nell’episodio Un’arma da fantascienza. Tuttavia nell’episodio La formula, nel quale vi si reca, dice di non esserci mai stato prima di quell’occasione. Nell’episodio Ricordi di giovent invece viene detto che ha 45 anni, anche se l’episodio andato in onda nel marzo 2013, quindi Semir avrebbe dovuto avere 49 anni.Prima del matrimonio con Andrea, abitava a Leverkusen al 45b di Hauptstrasse (via fittizio). Successivamente si trasferisce a Colonia in Kantstrae (anche questa via fittizia); dall’episodio La ragazza alla pari la casa di Semir e sua moglie cambia nuovamente e rimarr la stessa fino alla separazione. Nell’episodio Rivoluzione firma le carte per la vendita di quest’ultima casa e va a vivere da Dieter.Nelle primissime stagioni Semir nomina molto spesso la madre, sebbene non sia mai apparsa in nessun episodio; non si presentata neanche al suo matrimonio avvenuto nell’episodio Un felice risveglio. Suo padre invece morto.

There are four main parts of a soccer ball. The first is the cover or surface of the ball, which can be made from synthetic leather, polyurethane or polyvinyl carbonate. Balls made from synthetic leather are typically more common and used in professional games. The number of panels on the surface of the ball vary due to the type of ball. An average of four layers of lining give the ball its structure, strength, control and bounce. The last component is the bladder, which is the round, innermost layer that gives the ball its shape. Bladders can be made from butyl or latex, and contain the air valve.
When a soccer ball air valve is closed, the hole is perpendicular to the passageway, which doesn’t allow air to enter or exit the ball. Whatever air is in the ball will stay inside. When the valve is open, the hole runs in the same direction as the passageway. This allows you to inflate the ball with air. Ball valves are made from different materials including butyl and silicone. Butyl valves are used for air retention, while silicone valves are used for performance and protect the ball from losing air during inflation. Full port valves are the most common among ball valves and allow little friction loss with no restriction of air flow.

Do you do last minute cramming before you go to the dentist? No, I don’t mean reading up on orthodontia in hopes of having an intellectual conversation about crowns with your dentist (how you can talk at all with all those tools in your mouth is beyond me, though dentists always ridiculously try).
Rather, I’m talking about amping up your brushing and flossing routine the last few days before you go to the dentist. I see so many articles, beauty products, and campaigns come out every year around Earth Day intended to inspire plant love and general Earth love.
